Boogoolum is a truly unique 20ha (50-acre) wildlife haven completely enclosed by the Mornington Peninsula National Park ('Greens Bush') tucked away in total seclusion, yet mere minutes from all major attractions. Several kilometres of walking-trail intertwine the various landscapes throughout the acreage, allowing for leisurely strolls that meander through unspoilt natural beauty with only Koalas, Swamp Wallabies, Kangaroos, Echidnas and other assorted fauna to bear witness.

The covenanted sanctuary has recorded in excess of 176 native bird species, such as rare Powerful Owls, Latham's Snipe, Swift Parrots, Scaly Thrush and 16 mammal species (including Southern Brown Banidcoots) with a large assortment viewable on a daily basis; the Long-Nosed Bandicoot thought to be extinct on the Mornington Peninsula was rediscovered at Boogoolum in 1986.

Composed of several distinct habitats: Wet Heathlands, Dry Heathland and open Sclerophyll ForestBoogoolum is surrounded by sheltered fern gullies, dense Melaleuca streamline thickets, forests, woodlands and picturesque wetlands.
